A Message from the CEO

Dear Friends of Glioblastoma Foundation,

As the Glioblastoma Foundation celebrates its 5-year anniversary in 2021, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on how far we have come together and how much farther we still have to go.

We were founded in 2016 as a national organization devoted to funding new, more effective therapies for glioblastoma that work for all patients. With your help, we have never deviated from that mission. For the families and patients impacted by glioblastoma, it can be a devastating diagnosis that not only robs a patient of their physical well-being, but also, their personality: the true definition of self.

Today, the Glioblastoma Foundation remains the only national organization devoted to Glioblastoma research, support, and awareness.

Since 2016, you have trusted us to fund the research that matters most, provide support and patient resources, and ensure that the first time someone hears the word “Glioblastoma” is not when he or she or a loved one is being diagnosed.

With your help, we are funding the research that will extend patient survival without compromising quality of life. From support for effective drugs for Glioblastoma, like Osimertinib and Lomustine, to expanding the use of early detection techniques, and other new, innovative programs to advance research from the bench to the bedside, we continue our commitment to transforming glioblastoma therapy.

Glioblastoma can be a very scary diagnosis to receive. Many patients don’t know what they are up against, and at a time when they should be entirely focused on the fight ahead, there is confusion. The Glioblastoma Foundation serves as an access point for patients and families for the best clinical trials, information, and second opinions in the country.

As a pharmacist, nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than hearing a patient or family member say, “Now I understand what to do next” or “Now I know what to ask the doctor about.”

We believe that no one should hear “glioblastoma” for the first time as a result of their diagnosis. We want everyone in the nation to know what glioblastoma is. Our one-of-a-kind programs are intended to educate, connect, and involve the public in learning more about Glioblastoma now - before they, or a loved one, is impacted by the disease.

We’ve come a long way over the past 5 years. We’re funding the right research that has the highest chance of extending survival for patients. The future is bright for better therapies for glioblastoma. Together, with your help, we can transform glioblastoma into a manageable, chronic illness. Thank you for supporting our mission to fund more effective therapies that work for all patients.
